Facility Access

If you are working with human/animal subjects, your group must have an approved IRB/IACUC protocol letter.

If you are NOT currently faculty, staff or a student of the University of Florida, you must be approved as a UF affiliate/volunteer before applying for onsite access. This requires a clearly defined purpose of a your involvement, supervision, and record of activities.

Remember to acknowledge the AMRIS Facility funding in all publications and presentations that report your NMR/MRI usage at the AMRIS Facility. Some systems also have additional grant-specific citation requirements.

To obtain access to the AMRIS facility, you must complete the numbered steps below:

1. Read the AMRIS Facility Safety Handout for details about various safety hazards and staff contact information.
2. Attend one session of AMRIS Facility general safety training.
   • Request Safety Orientation: You will be contacted with details about the next upcoming safety orientation session when it is planned. Please plan ahead and request safety orientation well before you need to be on-site.
   • Complete Safety Orientation Attendance using the link provided at the end of your session. You must stay the entire length of the orientation session to acquire this link.
3. Register your MagLab user profile and encourage the other users in your group to do the same, even if they will not be on-site.
4. PRINCIPAL INVESTIGATOR ONLY: Establish a project billing code.
   • If you have a funding source already, complete a Billing Code Request Form. Email the Office Manager if you have any questions while filling out the form.
   • If you are seeking MagLab funding (pilot study), submit a proposal to the MagLab.
5. If you will be using 3T clinical or 7T/11T preclinical imagers:
   • 3T: Protocol must be approved by Jens Rosenberg
   • 7T/11T: Schedule additional safety training with Huadong Zeng
6. Apply for building access/scanner room access. The request will route to your PI and department admin for approval, so you should let them know to expect the email so it does not get missed. Please remember to complete safety training before applying for facility access, or your request will not be approved by AMRIS staff.
7. Email the Office Manager if you have any questions.
